Our Story: Why Mik Oy Exists
The idea did not come from a business plan. It came from a difficult moment. Laurene had lost her job, bills needed paying, and finding extra work in Finland, especially as a newcomer, felt nearly impossible. She knew she was not alone. Many people around her were in the same situation… willing to work, needing income, but with no accessible way to find it.
So she decided to create one.
Mik Oy started as a way to make reliable, honest work more accessible, both for customers who needed help and for people who wanted to earn it. That purpose has not changed. Every move we help with, every home we clean, every delivery we complete, it is all built on the belief that good, fair, accessible service makes life a little easier for everyone involved.
As an immigrant business owner, Laurene understands what it means to work hard in a country that is not your birthplace, to prove yourself through your actions rather than your words, and to build something meaningful from very little. That experience shapes how Mik Oy operates every single day.
